A move of the laboratories of the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute to the Ann and Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago facilitated digitization of hundreds of valuable scientific lab research journals. The assets, totaling over 500,000 pages, consisted of various sized journals and notebooks, many of which included loose pages, oversized computer print outs and scientific film “gels”.
Due to the security of the data, TDAG performed all of the digitization on site at the Research Center. The size of the project, variation of materials and a very short lead time required TDAG to use a fleet of digitization equipment including flatbed, sheet-fed and overhead planetary scanners. Post digitization, the files were converted to PDF with OCR for keyword search. Each laboratory received a digital copy of their journals with the Research Center receiving a master copy on a portable hard drive.
